READING

Person A

Card 1 - Strengths: Three of Wands. The Three of Wands shows a mature and wealthy merchant standing along the shoreline watching his ships come in laden with trade goods. His business is expanding on a firm foundation.  This is a card of maturity and power, and wealth. The advantages of this relationship come in the area of material resources, and the ability to use them to accomplish your goals.  This relationship would likely be interesting, exciting, and fiery, but this person might also have other interests that would take up a lot of his time.  You might learn a lot from being around him, but you might not have a lot of control over the situation.

Card 2 - Challenges: Nine of Swords. The Nine is a card of sleepless nights, of questioning oneself, and of feeling unhappy or trapped in a difficult situation. It is one of the less positive cards in the deck, and usually speaks of the need to release or end an emotionally painful situation. What this card could mean is that you may find excitement, energy, and new experiences in this relationship, but you might possibly not find the emotional fulfillment you are looking for, and this could end up being fairly painful for you.

Card 3 – Happiness: The Emperor, reversed. Once again, we see a very powerful man, mature and strong, who is in total control of the situation and enforces his views rather rigidly.  The reversal of this card suggests that this may be a fairly unequal relationship, and this may make you unhappy in the long-term.  Your friend feels that power comes very naturally to him, and he has an subconscious expectation that others in his life will go along with his plans, and want what he wants. If this isn't the case, he may not be very good at changing his plans to accommodate yours.  I also sense from these cards that he may be older than you, and this contributes to the imbalance.  He feels benevolently toward you, but expects certain things of you that are not very flexible. He may end up feeling more like your father than a partner.

Person B

Card 4 – Strengths: Seven of Wands, reversed. This shows a loyal and trustworthy friend, who would fight for his principals and his friends and family against all odds, even in difficult or impossible situations.  The reversal of this card suggests that if you choose this person, you may end up in some challenging situations, and the two of you will struggle to get through them.  But you will be able to count on this person to defend you to the last.  You may have a clash of wills periodically, but you will know that this person is honest and trustworthy, and will have respect and love for the other (even when you're fighting :-).

Card 5 – Challenges: King of Pentacles, reversed. The King of Pentacles reversed may show some possible downsides or character traits to be aware of.  He can show an excessive interest in material things – good food, wine, sex. These can be fun, but can also be taken to an extreme. He can also be very stubborn and traditional about some things, which could be exasperating.  He also expects to be King of his castle, and is possessive about his home and things.  He will be concerned about financial resources, and may be a bit jealous of your other friend.

Card 6 – Happiness: Two of Wands, reversed. The Two of Wands is a decision card, about whether to leave a good home one has, or to go out into the world and explore.  This card shows that this would be a much more equal relationship than with Person A, but is also reversed, suggesting that eventually you may decide this is not the right relationship for you.  But if you do decide to leave, it will be on an amicable basis, and you will have lived and learned a lot. You will be more mature and ready to leave your home and go out into the world, having had a serious relationship – and probably still a good friend that you can count on.

Card 7 – Overall Decision: Page of Swords. This card shows you as a young and idealistic person, with lots of plans and ideas for the future. At this moment, you feel like your feet have wings and you could do almost anything.  There is a telescope at your side, and this shows the planning you are trying to do for your future.  As a Page, you are just beginning to make your way in life, and it is important that you choose someone that will not overwhelm you or stifle your direction and ideas.  Choose a relationship that feels natural, with someone who will learn and grow along with you and give you a chance to develop your own personality and expression. You have an intelligent and sensitive nature, and you may suffer a lot if there is no outlet for your ideas and feelings.  Choose someone with whom you really feel you can be yourself, and you will have chosen well.
